Gordon Grant concentrates his practice in general admiralty trial and appellate practice involving hull and machinery, collisions, groundings, structural failures, fires, explosions and marine insurance coverage issues. He has extensive experience in handling marine pollution claims, personal injury and wrongful death claims, products liability cases, and insurance coverage and extra contractual liability. He has appeared before the National Transportation Safety Board and the United States Coast Guard. From 1990 to 1994, Gordon served as Vice-Chairman of the Recreational Boating Committee for the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

For 10 years, Gordon taught Admiralty Law in the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of New Orleans. He was a contributing author to Benedict on Admiralty, Volume 8, Seventh Edition and Recreational Boating, published by Matthew Bender. Gordon is a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers and the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States. He is also a member of the Propeller Club Port of New Orleans where he served on the Board of Governors from 1992 through 1994. As a member of the American Boat and Yacht Council, he served two stints on the Board of Directors – 1991-1998 and 2002 -2005. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Louisiana, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
